LIBERTY NETWORK - AND THE IDEA
LINE is the acronym of Liberty Network. And LINE ON-LINE is the info-site covering classical liberal and libertarian organizations and activities in Europe.
Our aim is to further the knowledge and understanding for the ideas essential to liberty - both economic and personal. We try to achieve this aim by creating a network among individuals and organizations dedicated to the same cause.
A (VERY) BRIEF HISTORY
LINE was established in 1994 by Jan Sommerfelt Pettersen and Palle Steen Jensen with the purpose of publishing the periodic newsletter LINE and Index on Liberty. This is a (not so flattering, but true) picture of Jan and Palle in the Norwegian sunshine.
PRESENT ACTIVITIES OF LINE
Since January 1997 LINE has moved its activities to the Internet. At present the LINE-activities include the following:
* LINE ON-LINE
LINE ON-LINE is where you are now and contains 5 main sections:
- LINE Calendar - an update on interesting events in Europe
- Mailing lists - an overview of European mailing lists
- INDEX OF LIBERTY - see below
- LINE E-mail Directory - a directory of mail addresses
- Reading - publishing of texts not previously published on the Internet
Please help us to keep the information on this web-site as updated as possible.
* LINE-LIST
LINE-LIST is a european mailing list open to anybody interested in classical liberal and libertarian ideas. The purpose of LINE-LIST is to inform. You can read more about LINE-LIST.
* INDEX ON LIBERTY
The objective of Index on Libery is to provide a tool for people who wish to communicate and take advantage of the activities of others in their aim to promote liberty and reason.
Index on Liberty has been published by the Norwegian magazine "Ideer om Frihet" since 1981. Until 1991 Index on Liberty was also published by Society for Individual Liberty, USA. In March 1994 LINE published the 10th edition of Index on Liberty, which seems to be the last paper-version.
Index on Liberty will in the future be updated on this web-site.
